11:53 pm - A horrible wave of the undead is due out on September 7th!

Well, it looks the second week of September will be quite the treat for zombie fans.  Dawn of the Dead, the original 1978 masterpiece, is getting the super-deluxe four disc edition treatment a couple months before its 2004 counterpart is released on DVD on October 26.  Ancorbay's website has an impressive feature that goes into extensive detail on the extras that are included with this special edition.  But is it really worth it?  Well, it might be best if you go to the site and decide on that yourself.  It boasts three different versions of the film, including an extend European version that's actually 12 minutes longer than US release.  It also includes two different documentaries about the film, which aren't found on the previous DVD which came out earlier this year.  Also scheduled for release on the 7th is the final chapter in the trilogy, Day of the Dead which was released in 1983.  Considering that this one is actually cheaper than the one that already came out, it may just be an affordable "not-so-special" edition.

Finally, to round out this Zombie Tuesday, the long awaited special edition release of Resident Evil will be hitting shelves with a price tag of about $19.99.  So far, I've yet to hear anything about the extra features, but here's hoping that there's some deleted scenes or at least some added footage.  Although, I have heard it comes with a free ticket to Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

Current Music: rilo kiley - "more adventurous"
